First deliveries of the KIA EV9 in South Korea

The KIA EV9 is already on the streets, although for now only in some South Korean cities. KIA has already officially started deliveries of its new electric SUV in its own country, where it can be purchased from 78.14 million won. Which is about 55.900 euros.

The EV9 is the second electric model based on the South Korean manufacturer's E-GMP platform to reach the market, after its presentation last MarchAt over five metres long, the EV9 is a completely different vehicle from the EV6 we already know, both in terms of dimensions and technical specifications. KIA's new electric SUV is equipped with a higher-capacity battery pack, which reaches up to 99.8 kWhDepending on the version, it also has a 150 kW engine on the rear axle, or a double electric motor with a combined power of 283 kW and all-wheel drive.

Kia plans to launch an even more affordable version in the near future, with a lower-capacity battery pack of 76.1 kWh and a single 160 kW electric motor on the rear axle. On the other hand, South Korean customers interested in the GT Line version, which is usually the most interesting version of the South Korean manufacturer's vehicles, will have to wait until the third quarter of this year, when it is scheduled to go on sale.

In South Korea, KIA has announced a range of 501 km for its new electric SUV for the version equipped with the 99.8 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor on the rear axle, also fitted with 19-inch wheels. This is 40 km less than what was announced at its presentation last March, when it promised 541 km of WLTP autonomy. A difference that, we assume, will be due to the differences existing with the homologation cycle used in South Korea.

Additionally, if 20-inch wheels are mounted on this same version, KIA claims that the range is reduced to 480 km. While for the version with dual electric motor and all-wheel drive It promises a range of between 445 and 454 km., depending on the rims chosen.

All units of this electric SUV sold in Europe will be produced in South Korea, while for the North American market the company plans to begin production in 2024 at its West Point plant in the state of Georgia.
