KIA officially presents its new EV9 SUV with 541 km of autonomy
A couple of weeks after leaking its final design to the media, the Korean manufacturer has just officially presented its new electric SUV based on the E-GMP platform. The KIA EV9 is a vehicle with a large interior space, perfect for travelling with the whole family and with enough autonomy to reach any destination.
Regarding this last point, KIA promises that the EV9 is capable of traveling up to 541 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle. A figure that, to tell the truth, is preliminary for the moment, and it would not be strange if it ends up being even higher. as already happened with the EV6. In any case, what seems clear is that this new KIA electric SUV outperforms the EV6 in this section, with the latter's official WLTP range being 528 km. And all this despite the fact that the dimensions and weight of the EV9 are much larger.

With a length of 5.01 meters, a width of 1.98 meters and a height of 1.76 meters - without forgetting its greater aerodynamic coefficient of 0.28 -, surpassing the EV6 in autonomy is only possible with a battery pack of a considerably greater capacity. The KIA EV9 will be available with two different battery packs to choose from, the largest of them being 99.8 kWh.
Three versions to choose from initially, to which a fourth top-of-the-range version will be added in 2025
The Korean manufacturer will offer the possibility of choosing versions with one or two electric motors. The configuration with a single electric motor located on the rear axle will deliver a total of 150 kW of power with 350 Nm of torque, which will allow it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 9.4 seconds. Combined with 19-inch wheels and the 99.8 kWh battery pack, this should be the choice for those looking for maximum autonomy, which will reach the 541 km mentioned above, always under the WLTP homologation cycle.
The entry-level version of the EV9 will maintain this same configuration, but replacing the battery pack with a smaller 76.1 kWh one, thus reducing the final price of the vehicle. It is important to note that this smaller battery pack will only be available in combination with a single electric motor.

Additionally, KIA will market a version with a double electric motor - one on each axle - with a combined power of up to 283 kW and 600 Nm of torque. As expected, in this case the acceleration will be greater, stopping the clock from 0 to 100 km/h in exactly 6 seconds. The Korean manufacturer will also offer the possibility of purchasing through its store KIA Connect Store the optional “Boost” function that via software will increase the vehicle's torque up to 700 Nm, making it possible to reduce the 0 to 100 km/h time to just 5.3 seconds.
In addition to these three configurations we have mentioned, with a single electric motor and two different battery packs plus another with a double electric motor, The Korean manufacturer has also promised a top-of-the-range GT version that will arrive in 2025.KIA has not given details about the technical specifications of this version, but if we take a look at the equivalent of the EV6 we can already get an idea of where this could go.

EV9 reservations in Europe will open during the second half of the year
At the moment, the prices of the different versions available of the KIA EV9 are unknown. It is expected that the Korean manufacturer will announce them as the date of the first deliveries in the different markets approaches. At the moment, we know that reservations will open in South Korea during the second quarter of this year, while in Europe we will have to wait a few more months.
