Mercedes will use batteries manufactured in Cáceres for its cars

With the Increase in sales of electric cars, which will be the only ones manufactured in a few years, there is a problem that they want to eliminate: lack of batteries. Manufacturers are already thinking about how to ensure that this important element, which is the heart of electric vehicles, is not lacking. And although it seems that China is set to become the world's supplier of these, it seems that Spain is positioning itself as one of the chosen places to set up battery factories.

There are several companies that have shown interest in installing this type of infrastructure in our country and cities such as Sagunto They already have the go-ahead to build these factories. The latest news about one of these facilities comes to us from Envision AESC, a Chinese multinational that is one of the main players in the sector.

Envision Caceres Plant

A gigafactory in Cáceres

This company foresees the construction of a gigafactory in Navalmoral de la Mata, in Cáceres. This gigafactory will be ready at the end of 2025 or at the beginning of 2026 and part of its production already has a fixed destination: Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles which are manufactured in Vitoria. The Vito and eVito models, the V-Class and the electric version of the EQV are assembled at this plant.

Envision had already announced that it was willing to invest up to 1.000 million euros in this factory, but with conditions. These included an external investment of 400 million eurosIn September, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism granted a subsidy of 200 million euros, in addition to a preferential loan of 100 million.

Home batteries: are they useful even if you don't have solar panels?

Home batteries: are they useful even if you don't have solar panels?

The use of household batteries has been gradually spreading. Until recently, it was a device that wasn't used at home unless there was a solar energy system, consisting of one or more solar panels. And even then, it was common practice to feed the energy back into the grid.

More investment in the region

This investment will create some 3.000 direct jobs and around 12.000 indirect jobs, which has been very well received by the region. But this will not be the only investment of the Chinese multinational, since the construction of a wind turbine factory, in Las Navas del Marqués, Ávila, in addition to a green hydrogen generating plant in Alcazar de San Juan, Ciudad Real.

With all this, the Chinese company will invest just over 3.800 million euros, which will help Spain position itself as a powerhouse in the generation of clean energy and home to several battery gigafactories.
