Audi updates the prices of its charging service: 0.31€/kWh in IONITY
Audi has just reacted to the new IONITY rates, offering advantageous conditions to its customers when they recharge in this European ultra-fast charging network.
There are only 2 days left until the IONITY network stops applying the standard rate of 8 euros per recharge with which it began its activity. It will be from this coming January 31st when, as the company announced just a few days ago, The cost of each recharge will be €0.79 per kWh consumed.
A somewhat high rate, if we compare it with the prices of the competition, which has caused a stir among owners and fans of electric vehicles since the news was released.

However, as we already mentioned when IONITY announced its new rates, those €0.79 per kWh consumed It is just the base rate for any electric vehicle. Applicable even to those brands - such as Tesla - that have not contributed to the creation of this network of ultra-fast chargers.
In the statement that IONITY made public a few days ago, it was already warned that users of recharge services such as Audi e-tron Charging Service, Mercedes me Charge, BMW ChargeNow, Porsche Charging Service o Volkswagen WeCharge -all of them belonging to brands that have contributed to creating IONITY- would have attractive offers to facilitate long-distance travel across Europe.
Recharging at IONITY with an Audi will be much cheaper
Audi has been the first to react to the change in IONITY rates, slightly updating the conditions of its charging service Audi e-tron Charging Service.

The German manufacturer offers access to more than 135 thousand charging points across 24 different European countries. And, of course, It also allows access to the charging points of the IONITY network. The Audi charging service offers two different rates: City y TransitThe first of these is aimed at those customers who use their vehicle in more urban areas, and the second is for those who are used to making long road trips.
Both rates require a mandatory monthly payment (4.95 euros for the City rate and 17.95 euros for the Transit rate). The minimum contractual period is 12 months.
The only difference between the two tariffs is the price per kWh that must be paid when charging on the IONITY network. Thus, with the City tariff there is no discount and you must pay €0.79 per kWh consumed; the same as any other electric vehicle of any brand. Audi customers with the Transit tariff will enjoy a significant discount on the IONITY network.
The additional 13 euros per month that must be paid for the Transit rate (17.95 – 4.95 = 13) will allow Audi customers to enjoy a reduced price on the IONITY ultra-fast charger network. only 0.31€ per kWh consumed. A price much closer to the competition, and even cheaper in many cases.

Which Audi charging service rate is right for me? City or Transit?
Opting for the Transit tariff, instead of the cheaper City, will therefore be much more interesting the more long road trips you are going to make. Those additional 13 euros are equivalent to 27 kWh if we multiply it by the difference between the two tariffs on the IONITY network, which is 0.48€ per kWh consumed (0.79-0.31). With those 27 kWh it is possible to travel just over 100 km in an Audi e-tron every month. Therefore, for those who are going to drive on the road regularly and are going to charge vehicles that increase the vehicle's autonomy by more than 100 km per month, it will be profitable to opt for the Transit rate.
