BMW iX3: everything is ready for the start of production of the electric SUV

Once the homologation tests have been successfully completed, the BMW's first electric model is moving towards the next step for its arrival on the market at the end of summer: the start of production.

La manufacturing of the BMW iX3 BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA) will be producing for the global market at its factory in China. BMW iX3 homologation tests

Prior to the start of production, BMW has already submitted the results of the homologation tests required for marketing to the relevant authorities in each country. BMW iX3 development manager Arno Keller says this is the first time the brand has carried out the homologation process for a fully electric model simultaneously in China and Europe.

To this end, more than 340 hours of testing were completed, including 7700 km of testing, in just one month, using 200 pre-production unitsThe BMW iX3 will share the assembly line at the BBA factory with the combustion engine versions of the BMW X3.

This is possible because the electric version is based on the platform used for the rest of the versions of the BMW X3, which will be the first model of the German brand available with three different types of propulsion: combustion engines gasoline o diesel, plug-in hybrid or with a electric.
