The Bollinger B1 and B2 brothers are pure off-road Made in USA

When you are looking for a 100% American electric SUV or pickup, the Bollinger B100 and B1 are the best.

They are what they seem and only hide a configuration as an electric vehicle. Tough, direct, forceful and electric, that's what the members of this SUT couple are like, because yes, that's how their creator, Robert Bollinger, defines them.

It was Robert himself who, based on the inspiration that every lover of off-road driving can elevate to the altars of a myth like the Land Rover Defender, designed his Sport Utility Truck, an electric all-terrain vehicle capable of finding no limits other than those limited by the capacity of its accumulators.

Their goal was, on the one hand, to create an off-road vehicle that was as extreme as it was environmentally friendly, capable of being manufactured at their facilities in New York State and that could travel like any other off-road vehicle from the mountains of their native Hobart to the roads that took them through the heart of the state without needing to recharge.

This is how the idea was born and the Bollinger prototype, a two-door SUV that was presented in 2017 and that, it is said, even seduced Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, a lover and owner of different vehicles of this caliber who was interested in reserving the final model.

The list of interested parties grew until, finally, the two final proposals were presented: the Bollinger B1 and B2, an all-terrain vehicle and a pick-up, respectively, capable of exciting the loyal customers of brands with a long history in the manufacture of this type of vehicle such as Ford and the spectacular Ranger Raptor that we tested and whose test we published on our sister site Top10Motor.

Bollingers B1

At first glance, you might think that the design of this all-terrain vehicle is the work of a child who has been given a blank sheet of paper and asked to draw what he understands by a car for off-road activities.

But far from simplicity, this car is an exercise in genius and engineering.

Built on an aluminium chassis, the flat panels and glazing that make up its body make it easy to manufacture, assemble and replace or remove as quickly as lowering the top on an elegant and attractive roadster sports car.

On the other hand, inserted into the skeleton of the Bollinger B1 is an all-wheel drive scheme thanks to having a motor for each axle, whose total power is set at more than 622 hp and a torque of more than 900 Nm with a towing capacity exceeding 10.000 Nm, a set associated with a gearbox of two speeds, as also featured in the Porsche Taycan.

The battery has a capacity of 120 kWh and a range of more than 320 km, and recharging takes from one hour and a quarter to 10 hours depending on the source.

Suitable for transporting up to 4 passengers, it can delight practitioners of off road activities thanks to having angles of attack, departure and ventral of 52, 43 and 30 degrees.

Bollingers B2

The transformation of the concept of the 3-door Bollinger prototype, a project that not even Robert Bollinger himself ruled out, was from SUT to pick up and was thanks to the adaptation of the chassis since the drive system and the energy accumulator are identical.

Its rear drawer alone considerably increases its Load capacity up to 3.200 liters but it is relatively limited; its off-road capabilities are measured with angles of attack, departure and ventral angles of 52, 25 and 28 degrees.

The price of the Bollinger brothers

Although we know that its serial production will start in 2020 in ni and that for both cars, it is possible make a reservationThere is no official price for either the Bollinger B1 or the B2, but it is speculated that they will start at $50.000 for the former and around $60.000 for the latter.
