Hyundai and KIA present the cradle of a new generation of electric cars

While some manufacturers are now diving into the construction of electrified vehicles, others are taking steps in their evolution after an early commitment to the new era of the automobile industry, which is based on the transition from mechanics powered by fossil fuels to those that use electrical energy.

The new platform of the South Korean group led by Hyundai and which covers its sister brand KIA, is called Electric Global Modular Platform, which in a quick translation is called the global modular platform for electric vehicles, in its English acronym E GMP, is the first architecture developed by this consortium specifically for use in technologies by and for electric cars.

With a repository of nothing more and nothing less than 23 new electric cars to be launched before the end of 2025, the establishment of the cradle from which the new KIA and Hyundai cars will grow until they leave the assembly lines, represents a revolution in terms of the comparison between the final product that the brands' current electric cars represent and those yet to come.

The evolution of the Hyundai Group's E-GMP platform

For starters, the new platform allows for greater flexibility in building cars than the previous one. Hyundai E-GMPThis will allow for the implementation of quality of use to the extent that, in addition to having more space between axles, ergo, greater spaciousness and freedom for its occupants, it will mean greater capacity in terms of the autonomy of the group's next electric cars.

According to the average calculations already made by the engineers, the Average autonomy of future electric cars of South Korean brands, whatever their nature, will be above 500 km of range.

In addition, thanks to the new generation of electric accumulators, whose charging capacity is estimated at up to 800 volts and with the possibility of recharging at 400 volts without having to resort to adapters, they will replenish up to 80 percent of their electrical storage capacity in less than 20 minutes and make a Recharge 100 km in just 5 minutes.

The evolution in Hyundai and KIA electric batteries The fact that they are manufactured using the E-GMP platform comes from the change towards accumulators that have a higher power density than those already known and used, which is based on an improvement in cooling that represents a 10 percent improvement in terms of density and, if that were not enough, with a saving in weight and space occupied in the chassis.

The location of the condensers close to the ground together with the new drive shaft system, a rear suspension that has five arms and a chassis that provides greater torsional rigidity together with greater impact absorption capacity, make this platform the basis for putting on the market a New generation of cars from Hyundai and KIA, more efficient, dynamic and comfortable.
