Infiniti is already preparing its first electric vehicle to be manufactured in China
Although it is still unknown whether it could reach other markets, Infiniti's first electric vehicle seems to be destined for the Chinese market.
Infiniti is about to present its first electric vehicle, a sports sedan that the Japanese company intends to manufacture in China and that will hit the market in about three years. That is at least what information published by Reuters, who would have had access to a press release from the company before its presentation.
It is not clear, however, whether Infiniti's first electric vehicle will be available in markets other than China. If so, it would have to be manufactured outside China as well, as it is certain that None of the units manufactured in the Asian country will be exported to other marketsThis last statement has been confirmed by a representative of the Japanese company itself.

Infiniti's decision to invest in the Chinese market is based on the tremendous growth potential that electric vehicles have there over the next few years, especially in the premium segmentInfiniti's electric luxury sports sedan is precisely the type of vehicle that many wealthy Chinese customers are looking for.
Infiniti's first electric vehicle will be based on the Qs Inspiration concept car
Coming soon, at the Shanghai Motor Show, the Japanese firm plans to present to the public the concept car called Q's Inspiration, of which some images have recently been leaked. The electric car that Infiniti will market in a period of about three years will, in principle, be based on this concept.

It is also believed to use a new flexible architecture more suited to electrified powertrains. Infiniti already confirmed last year that they were working on a new platform, which could be used in electric vehicles, based on the concept car Q Inspiration.
Electrification won't come to Infiniti until 2021
The Japanese company announced some time ago that it had no intention of electrifying any of its models until 2021 and that, starting that year, it would begin to offer some of them with electrified propulsion systems. Thus, the launch of a fully electric sedan in three years, which would put us in 2022, fits perfectly with that statement.

Finally, we must not forget that Infiniti recently announced that it plans to to stop selling its vehicles in Western Europe from 2020, focusing primarily on the North American and Chinese markets. It is therefore quite unlikely that we will ever see this first Infiniti electric vehicle in our country. Although who knows, perhaps the situation will change again between now and then.
