KIA finalizes performance tests of the EV9 SUV

After launching the EV6 last year, the Korean manufacturer is almost ready to launch its next electric model based on the E-GMP platform. The company has just revealed some details, including some images, about the intense performance tests it is carrying out with some camouflaged units of this model.

KIA intends to hold the official presentation of the production version of the EV9 electric SUV in sometime in the first quarter of 2023, to begin marketing in several markets worldwide a few months later.

The Korean manufacturer has been working on the development of the EV9 for the last 44 months, with the aim of making this electric SUV the benchmark in the sector in terms of design, performance, autonomy, technology and driving dynamics. The company is currently carrying out the final performance tests of the vehicle in the Namyang Research and Development Center located in Korea.

Nothing is left to chance in the EV9

According to KIA itself, the EV9 is undergoing an exhaustive verification program, overcoming steep slopes, a track with highly unfavorable terrain or wading through areas of water with a certain depth. All with the aim of to ensure maximum vehicle reliability no matter how complicated the obstacles to overcome.

The Korean firm's engineers are also carrying out speed tests with the EV9, handling tests and driving on low-friction tracks to check and improve the vehicle's performance. All these tests that KIA is carrying out at the Namyang Research and Development Center correspond, however, to the final phase of a much broader program that has led the company to test the vehicle in numerous locations around the world.

KIA promises that the EV9 will revolutionize the large SUV segment, accelerating the brand's transition to electric mobility and affirming its leadership in this sector. The company has already presented A rather futuristic prototype of this electric SUV last year. Although the images published now do not allow us to appreciate in detail the design of the final production version due to camouflage, it can be assumed that its final appearance will be somewhat more conventional.
