Model Y breaks sales record set in 1969 in Norway
No other vehicle, whether combustion or electric, has sold as much in Norway over the course of a whole year.
Norway has been one of the main markets for the American manufacturer for years, not only because of the sales volume given that the population of this Nordic country is not very high, but also because of the positions achieved by its electric models in the sales rankings.
With the Model Y, Tesla has outdone itself in Norway this year that is now coming to an end, surpassing the annual sales record that had remained unbeaten since 1969..

According to official data, during this year 2022 the number of registrations of the compact SUV of the American manufacturer as of December 23, was around 17 thousand units -16.921 units to be exact-. A figure that already exceeds the 16.699 units of the Volkswagen Beetle registered during the whole of 1969, and which no other model with a combustion or electric engine has ever been able to surpass until now.
The Model Y has not yet said its last word
Considering that there are still eight more days until the end of the year from the date indicated, and that Tesla usually gives a strong boost to sales at the end of each quarter, it should not surprise us that the annual sales figure of the Tesla Model Y in Norway for the whole of 2022 easily exceeds 17 thousand units.
«The Tesla Model Y has broken the record for the best-selling vehicle in Norway for an entire year, which had been held by the Beetle since 1969.»
There is no doubt that with the Model Y the American manufacturer has hit the mark, putting on the market a vehicle that perfectly fits the taste and also the needs of Norwegian drivers. Only during the first three weeks of this month of December, Nearly 4 thousand units of this compact electric SUV were registered in Norway. A figure that also allows us to be very optimistic about the company's results for the coming year that is about to begin.
Although other electric models from other manufacturers are also selling very well, the Model Y's leading position in the Norwegian market during this year 2022 is beyond doubt. Thus, in second position we find the Volkswagen ID.4, with just over 11 thousand units sold. Around 6 thousand fewer units than those registered for the American manufacturer's compact SUV.
The Skoda Enyaq iV is also far behind, ranking third in the sales ranking in 2022, with just over 7.500 units.
