The new Peugeot 208 will also have a fully electric version

The new e-208 will be available at the end of the year and will have to compete with the renewed Renault Zoe, both with similar specifications.

Peugeot has just presented the new 208; a vehicle that, as expected, will be available in different versions with combustion engines, but which also It will also have a 100% electric versionThe French firm hopes to begin marketing it this coming autumn.

El e-208, which is what the electric version will be called, will have a 1.8-liter engine. 100 kW of power (136 HP) with 260 Nm of torque. Its battery will be 50 kWh capacity, which according to Peugeot will allow it to offer a range of 340 km according to the WLTP homologation cycle.

Following the trend of other manufacturers in Europe, the e-208 will be able to take advantage of the CCS Combo charging point infrastructure, charging in direct current at a maximum power of 100 kW. It will thus be placed on a par in this section with the renewed version of the Renault Zoe, which is also expected by the end of the year.

The electric car from the French firm will also have an internal charger that will allow it to recharge with alternating current at a maximum power of 11 kW.

Various driving modes to suit every situation

At the wheel of the e-208 it will be possible to choose between 3 different driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. The first is optimized to achieve maximum autonomy, the second gives greater importance to comfort for daily use, while the last is aimed at offering the highest possible performance for sportier driving.

Using a pair of paddles on the steering wheel, the e-208 will allow you to select between two different levels of regenerative brakingThe first option, which is very moderate, will offer a sensation similar to that obtained when braking in a conventional vehicle. The second option, which is more aggressive, will allow the vehicle to come to a stop when the accelerator pedal is released. This last option is perfect for driving in the city and allows the vehicle's autonomy to be increased by increasing the amount of energy recovered.

Same equipment and interior space in all versions of the 208

The French firm assures that all versions of the 208, both those with a combustion engine and this fully electric one, will be identical inside. The load capacity in the trunk will also be the same.

What will probably not be similar is its price. Peugeot has not yet announced the price of this electric version, but it is known that the price of the most basic version with a combustion engine will start at 16000 euros.
