Rivian also joins the “NACS Group” in North America

The American manufacturer that currently sells the R1T electric pickup and the R1S electric SUV in North America has just taken an important step that brings them to the NACS standard a little closer to becoming the de facto standard in this marketThe company has announced that starting in 2024 it will provide owners of these two models with an adapter that will allow them to easily recharge at Tesla Superchargers.

But not only that, since from 2025 both the R1T pickup and the R1S SUV They will integrate a NACS charging connector as standard with which the use of this adapter will no longer be necessary.

The agreement reached between Rivian and Tesla also means that the brand's new generation of vehicles based on the new R2 platform, which will hit the market in the second half of this decade, will do so with a NACS charging connector as standard, replacing the CCS1.

What about Rivian’s charging network?

What is not yet clear is how this agreement will affect Rivian's own network of adventure charging points. The company has confirmed its intention to continue expanding it so that vehicle owners can reach even more remote locations, but it is not known whether the new charging points installed from now on will integrate a NACS charging connector or not.

The company is reportedly looking into how best to transition to the new NACS standard for its adventure charging network, with a spokesperson promising to provide more information on the matter in the near future.
