Stellantis also increases the autonomy of the Citroën ë-C4

En a recent entry In this article, in which we reported on the introduction of a series of improvements to the Opel Corsa-e and Mokka-e, thanks to which these models will gain a few kilometres of autonomy, we mentioned the possibility that Stellantis could follow the same path with the Citroën ë-C4. And finally that's how it was.

With the same technological improvements applied to the rest of its siblings, also based on the group's e-CMP platform, Stellantis has managed to increase the WLTP autonomy of the Citroën ë-C4 up to 357km. Which is 7 km more than the current model.

As we can see, this increase in autonomy of around two percent is much less significant than in the electric cars from Opel, Peugeot or DS, in which it is around seven percent. Despite this, Citroën assures that in real life new owners of an ë-C4 will be able to enjoy up to 30 km more in urban areas.

One of the reasons why this increase in autonomy is lower in the Citroën ë-C4 than in the rest of the group's electric cars is because Stellantis has only been able to implement two of the three improvements introducedCitroën will also modify the transmission ratio of the ë-C4 and equip it with a new heat pump with a humidity sensor, but it cannot change the tires for more efficient ones because this model has already been equipped with low rolling resistance tires since its launch.

Notice to those who buy a plug-in hybrid and do not use it properly

On the other hand, Citroën has also updated the plug-in hybrid version of the C5 Aircross HybridThis is a software update in this case, thanks to which the owners of this model will receive a regular notification if they do not recharge the battery.

Equipping a vehicle with a plug-in hybrid propulsion system is pointless if the battery is not regularly recharged using a socket or a Wallbox. Some owners of this type of vehicle, for convenience, use it as if it were a hybrid vehicle, limiting themselves to filling the gas tank. A terribly inefficient decision because you are constantly transporting a battery of considerable size and weight that is hardly being used. In short, to give you an idea, not recharging the battery is like driving a hybrid vehicle with a couple of strange passengers who always accompany us wherever we go.

This new warning implemented by Citroën will appear on the screen after 5 days have passed, or 10 journeys have been made, without recharging the car. In this way, the French manufacturer hopes that this type of driver who is used to not recharging the battery will be aware that this is not the correct way to use the vehicle.
