Volvo to expand range with six new electric cars by 2026
A recent report refers to the future plans of the Swedish firm, which apparently would involve marketing Two new electric models based on the S60 and S90.
These two new sedans would, however, be only a third of the brand's new electric models by 2026, since the Swedish manufacturer's intention is to market a total of six new electric models during this period.

According to sources close to the company cited in this report, the recently introduced EX90 It would be one of these six new electric models of the brand; as well as the entry-level SUV to the EX30 range, whose launch on the market has already been confirmed.
Volvo's third new electric car is said to be a minivan based on the Zeekr 009. This is not surprising considering that both brands are part of the Chinese Geely Group. Additionally, Volvo is also planning to launch an electric successor to the XC60.
If we add the electric versions of the S60 and S90 sedans to these four new electric models that we have just mentioned, we would already have the six new electric cars that Volvo intends to market between now and 2026.
Developed from the beginning to be electric
Currently, the S60, XC60, S90 and XC90 are all based on the Swedish manufacturer's SPA platform. Volvo developed the new SPA2 platform specifically for its electric models, and this is precisely what the new EX90 uses. Although it would be logical to think that the S90 will also be based on this platform, for the moment this is nothing more than an assumption.

Finally, it should be noted that this report also states that Volvo has already started the development of its two new electric sedans that will replace the current S60 and S90. Work that is currently being carried out at the company's Research and Development Hub in Shanghai.
With the launch of these six new electric vehicles, Volvo will take an important step towards its goal of fully electrifying its entire vehicle range by 2030.
