The new VW Passat GTE comes with greater autonomy in electric mode
A larger battery capacity enables the new Passat GTE to go much further in emission-free all-electric mode
Volkswagen launches a new generation of the Passat, one of the most popular vehicles in its catalog with more than 30 million units sold throughout its history. The new Passat represents a significant leap forward compared to the previous generation in all its versions, but especially in its plug-in hybrid version.
The battery capacity of the new Passat GTE has increased by 31 percent, now reaching 13 kWh. The autonomy in fully electric mode has therefore also been increased; and if with the previous generation Volkswagen promised 50 km according to the old NEDC homologation cycle, now announces 70 kmThis figure is reduced, however, to 56 km under the more realistic WLTP homologation cycle.

In any case, those more than 50 km of autonomy in electric mode are more than enough for an average driver to make almost all of their urban trips.
Outside the city, when longer distances are covered on the road, the Passat GTE's TSI petrol engine comes into its own. In GTE mode, both the petrol and electric motors join forces to deliver outstanding performance.
With the new Passat GTE everything is simpler
Volkswagen has simplified the driving modes available in the new Passat GTE, going from the 5 that were in the previous generation, only 3.
El EV-mode It is specifically designed for use in the city, although it can also be used on the road as long as you drive at less than 140 km/h. This is the purely electric mode, and therefore, the one in which no emissions are generated.
El GTE mode is the sportiest. In this mode, the petrol engine and electric motor deliver a combined output of 160 kW with a torque of 400 Nm, and a top speed of 222 km/h is possible.
The third driving mode available is the Hybrid mode, which allows you to alternate the use of both engines depending on what is of interest at any given time. In this mode It is also possible to recharge the battery during a trip., with the aim of using fully electric mode when entering a city. To do this, the driver must indicate on the vehicle's display the battery capacity that he wants to reserve.

Once the destination is reached, the owner of the new Passat GTE can start a new recharge of the battery using a conventional charging point. In this way, once the recharge is completed You will be able to enjoy another 56 km of autonomy in fully electric mode.
The most flexible option that best adapts to both city and highway use
The new Passat GTE thus becomes a very important option for those who live in large European cities, such as Madrid, Berlin or Paris. Its fully electric mode facilitates access to areas with restricted access to Zero Emission vehicles, making it possible to make long trips. without having to depend on an adequate charging infrastructure.
Another point in favor of the new Passat is that its price remains virtually unchanged compared to the previous generation, and starts at 44795 Euros for the saloon version and the 45810 Euros for the family.
