Luminar LiDAR-equipped Polestar 3 is now available for pre-order
Since the 2nd of this month of February, all those customers who wish to do so can choose to reserve the new Polestar electric SUV for integrating as part of its equipment a LiDAR unit provided by Luminar.
This has been announced by both companies through a joint press release, adding that this same component will also be available in the future Polestar 5, a four-door electric Gran Turismo.

The Polestar 3 was officially presented last october, with the first deliveries expected to take place at the end of this year. However, these deliveries will correspond to units without LiDAR, since those customers who choose to equip this component will see the delivery of their vehicle delayed until the end of 2024.
Safety has been a priority in the development of the Polestar 3
The Polestar 3 boasts of being one of the safest vehicles on the market thanks to its advanced technology. Apart from the optional LiDAR, the new electric SUV from the Swedish manufacturer has five cameras and another five radars, accompanied by twelve ultrasonic sensors. All this on the outside of the vehicle, because inside it is possible to find a couple of additional cameras and another radar, The latter is intended to prevent accidents caused by heat stroke..
Both the Polestar 3 and Polestar 5 will integrate the long-range LiDAR developed by Luminar into the roof, following in the footsteps of the Volvo EX90 already announcedThe Swedish manufacturer claims that Luminar is currently the leader in this technology, and that collaboration between the two companies will therefore provide a significant boost to innovation.

The LiDAR-equipped Polestar 3 is now available for pre-order in Europe and North America, while other markets such as China will also be able to do so from April. Production of the electric SUV will begin in China in the middle of this year, and a year later Polestar 3 units will also begin to leave Volvo's US plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina.
